The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Perfumery Association (CTPA) has criticized a US study examining children’s exposure to Phthalates in cosmetics and personal care products. The study measured Phthalate levels in children’s urine and suggested a link to cosmetic use within 24 hours of sample collection but failed to confirm Phthalate presence or trace their origin. The CTPA highlighted that all Phthalates discussed are banned in cosmetics and personal care products in the UK and EU. Under the UK Cosmetics Regulation (UKCR), all cosmetic products must undergo safety assessments before being sold.
