MHRA Launches AI Airlock Initiative to Tackle Regulatory Challenges for AI as a Medical Device (AIaMD)

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is launching AI Airlock, a collaborative initiative to tackle challenges faced by AI as a Medical Device (AIaMD). It aims to balance patient safety with regulatory agility to foster healthcare innovation. The project will select a limited number of AIaMD products to address regulatory issues across various disciplines and development stages. Successful applicants will work with the MHRA, Team AB, and the NHS AI Lab to identify and mitigate regulatory challenges and risks associated with AIaMD.
