The Government of Canada stresses the importance of using “”Product of Canada”” and “”Made in Canada”” claims accurately on food labels. This ensures transparency, supports Canadian businesses, and builds consumer trust, in line with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) guidance.
The CFIA enforces compliance with labeling laws, taking action against misleading claims and encouraging consumers and businesses to report any concerns. To assist industry members, the agency provides resources such as a quick reference guide for identifying Canadian food products and the AskCFIA service for inquiries.
Additional updates are available on food recalls, safety regulations, animal health, and plant health to keep industry professionals informed.
