The European Commission has proposed amendments to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling, and packaging of substances and mixtures. Based on recommendations from the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and consultations with Member States and stakeholders, the changes aim to protect human health and the environment while supporting the free movement of substances within the EU. The draft covers objectives, Commission authority, public consultations, CARACAL expert group involvement, updated classifications, stakeholder input, compliance timelines, and voluntary early compliance for suppliers.
