EU General Court Annuls Ban on Aloe Leaf Preparations Containing Hydroxyanthracene Derivatives (DAHs)

On 21-Nov-2024, the EU General Court ruled to invalidate the European Commission’s ban on leaf preparations of Aloe species containing Hydroxyanthracene Derivatives (DAHs). This decision:

Annuls Article 1(1) of Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/468.

Removes the inclusion of DAH-containing Aloe preparations from Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006.

The ruling overturns the ban, impacting the regulatory status of these substances in food supplements within the EU.
